Arranged –

Introduction –

Fiction is funny. Why … because it allows writers to create distinct and daring worlds, unusual characters and stranger goals. Arranged is all about two young individuals who have opted for radically different career and personal paths to make this planet a better place to live.

Synopsis –

Richa ( Tridha Choudhury ) and Tarun ( Rithvik Dhanjani ) have been set up in the latter’s house, a typical ritual of any arranged marriage. While their parents are nervous, Richa and Tarun seem to have no such qualms. The small talk and casual inferences soon take a serious note. Tarun tells Richa’s parents that he is not interested in his father’s plastic business as he has decided to manage his NGO, Mukti; to help build toilets for women at district level.

Richa then suggests that they be allowed to talk in private. Tarun invites her to his room which changes the tone and the timbre of their conversation. Richa too confesses her shortcomings and her unusual desires; that she doesn’t want to have her own kids, instead wants to adopt an orphan.

Analysis –

In spite of the illogical and highly implausible goals of Tarun and Richa, their performances provide enough traction for the viewers to enjoy the film. Both, Tridha Choudhury & Rithvik Dhanjani have done well in portraying characters which are rare to find in the real world. Short films typically depend on timing, strong narration and meaningful dialogs. “Arranged” ticks all the boxes successfully. Cinematography is crisp and beautifully rendered. On the other hand the director needs to be complimented for extracting some wonderful expressions, especially from Tridha Choudhury. Go ahead and watch this cute little romance film.
